Politico recently featured an article on George Soros and his political campaign contributions to Democratic Party front runner, Hillary Clinton, in the U.S. presidential race. His current level of donations just reached $8 million towards Clinton’s presidential campaign. The latest donation from Soros was directed to Priorities USA Action, a pro-Hillary super PAC, which raised a total of $25 million to support her candidacy in the second half of 2015 alone. In total, the Priorities USA Action super PAC raised an estimated $41 million in all of 2015, which puts Clinton at a significant fundraising advantage over her adversaries in the Democratic primary elections.
One of the reasons that the donation to the pro-Hillary super PAC has received so much attention, besides the fact that the donation represents quite a significant amount of money, is that George Soros is considered a leader in the Democratic Party fundraising efforts. Experts expect that other wealthy donors will follow the lead of Soros in supporting Hillary, which means that the leading Democratic Party candidate for president right now could expect other surges in fundraising in the months to come.
